On Wednesday January, 14th 2015, four teens from La Colonia graduated from the Crush Restaurant Mentorship Program.  Jeovani Aragon and Selenne Olivares graduated for their second time and Yvette Conde and Daisy Mejia were first time graduates.  The mentorship program ran for 10 weeks in which the four teens attended Crush every Wednesday night to work from 5-8pm.  Work consisted of taking turns shadowing a chef, hostess, busing tables and expo (assisting the server) as well as getting one-on-one hands-on training.

In attendance at graduation were the teen’s family members and BGC staff, which included CEO David Crean and La Colonia branch manager Gloria Castellanos. Also in attendance was KUSI News which included a small segment of the mentorship program in their evening news.  Jeo, Selene, Yvette and Daisy served everyone a wonderful dinner before being awarded their program completion certificates.  The evening was a complete success as was the entire mentorship program. We are very grateful to Crush for allowing the La Colonia teens such a great opportunity to learn new life skills that we are sure are going to be a great benefit to them.
