Our Youth of the Year, Jose Becerra, Receives a Proclamation
Jose Becerra, Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito’s 2017 Youth of the Year, received a Proclamation on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 from San Diego County Supervisor Kristen Gaspar.
Jose has overcome many barriers in his life and attributes this to his loving mother and the dedication of the staff at our La Colonia Clubhouse. He was granted this award for all of the accomplishments he has achieved and for earning the title of Youth of the Year at Boys and Girls Clubs of San Dieguito.
It was a very proud moment for Jose, his family, and the Club. After receiving the honor with love and gratitude, he gave a beautiful speech thanking those that had made it possible for him to be where he is today. He also touched on how the community should continue to give to those that are in need because it truly makes a difference in someone’s life. Jose is proof of this.
Jose’s future is very bright. He soon will graduate from high school and be the first in his family to go to college. We are proud to say that Jose grew up at our La Colonia Clubhouse and is now a valued staff member at our After School Program.
We will announce our 2018 Youth of the Year winner at our annual Youth of the Year celebration scheduled for August 3, 2018 at the Del Mar Race Track.
