Big Blue Breakfast & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony 2018 Recap

Friday, Nov 9th at Griset Clubhouse Gym
Close to 100 guests in attendance

Our Athletics department held their first annual fundraising breakfast featuring guest speaker Coach Steve Fisher. The purpose of the event was to raise funds and celebrate the grand reopening of our outdoor basketball court at our Ray Griset Clubhouse generously donated by NJB.

Funds raised from the breakfast will go directly towards improving and expanding athletic programs and services available to Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito and surrounding community youth. Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito provides $45,000 a year in scholarships for our athletics programs alone. We need the continued support of our community to carry on creating good athletes and great citizens.

We unveiled the beautiful court generously funded by NJB as well as recognized and honored collaborations between NJB and Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito.

“NJB and Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito have been collaborating for over fifteen years to bring sports, particularly basketball, to the youth in the local area. Our organizations work hand in hand to provide programs and services to as many kids as possible and our partnership has been both a success and a pleasure.” – Davion Sarver

Coach Fisher spoke on the importance of mentoring our youth members and the impact on life, athletic and career trajectory. He also stressed the value programs like Boys & Girls Clubs are for nurturing a passion for athletics and beginning skillsets for youth who may not otherwise have participation opportunities, as well as the impact on creating lifelong athletes and engaged community members.

“These kids need us to permit them to dream. They need us to say “Close your eyes and dream. Don’t ever be afraid to dream big.”
