Grant Received: Neighborhood Reinvestment Program Grant
Grant Title: Urban Farm & Outdoor Classroom improvements at CHL
Grant Amount: $40,000
Grant Purpose: Funding is needed to finish capital improvements and to promote community use of the Urban Farm & Outdoor Classroom located at the Griset Clubhouse of the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito. The $120,000.00 project to build a farm and outdoor classrooms augments programs offered by the Club’s Center for a Healthy Lifestyle. Farm to table cooking classes take place in teaching kitchen and garden that incorporate STEM curriculum and emphasize wellness, safety, technology and healthy decision making. Outdoor classroom space is the final development needed to complete the project. To date, $60,000.00 has been invested developing the Urban Farm. $40,000.00 of Equipment, Safety Fencing, Classroom Slab and technology devices are needed to have a fully functioning outdoor classroom for youth and the community.
