  • Back by popular demand! Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito is proud to present our 6th annual Cornhole Tournament hosted by our Jr. Board.

Enjoy the day at the Del Mar Dog Beach with your closest friends (and meet some new ones too!) while enjoying a friendly tournament of cornhole. Round one is the “round-robin” round, where each team plays four games. Top two teams from each court play head to head in a single-elimination match. Top eight teams (based on score) move on to round two where single-elimination games take place until we have a first-place team!

Between games, enjoy beers from our beers and eats with your feet in the sand.

Who doesn’t love an audience?! Sign up as a spectator and watch our teams duke it out while enjoying drinks and food from the sidelines.

Bring your sunscreen and sunglasses and we will take it from there!

  • CORNHOLE TOURNEY RULES

    DSC00078

Rule 1: 1 point for bag on board. 3 points for in the hole.

Rule 2: Points cancel. For example:

    cornhole

Rule 3: If any part of the bag is touching the ground, it does not count.

    Rule 4: Roll-ups/Bounce-ups DO count.

Scoring: Games are to 21 points. Winner will be awarded 2 extra points for a total of 23. The loser will be awarded the points they scored to be counted towards their round robin total. I.E . Score is 21-17, winner gets 23 , and loser gets 17. Top 16 teams will go through to the second round (Single elimination). Winner from each court automatically goes through. Last 6 teams to go through will be decided based on highest score. In case of a tie on those 6 teams: then a single toss (by each player) playoff will occur to determine the team to advance.

Round Robin: You have one court. Two teams should always be playing and the other 3 teams should rotate officiating/keeping score.

Single Elimination Rounds: Follow same rules as above

General Rules: To determine which team tosses first please use the “rock, paper, scissors” methodology. After that, the player who goes first is the one player that most recently scored.

The first side of contestants alternate tossing their corn bags until they have thrown all four bags, then the remaining contestant (tossing from the other cornhole platform) continue to alternate in the same manner until all four bags are delivered and the inning completed.

One contestant from each team shall be at each end of the court. When contestants are tossing their bags, the contestants at the other end shall be well behind & to the side of pitcher’s box (for their own safety).

    Make a Difference

    Mentor-narrow

Founded in 1966, Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito is the longest-serving youth nonprofit in the San Dieguito community, with no child turned away due to their family’s financial situation. Our programs focus on three main outcomes: Good Character & Citizenship, Academic Success, and Healthy Lifestyles. We level the playing field through activities in our core program areas: the Arts; Character & Leadership Development; Education & Career Development; Health & Life Skills; Sports, Fitness & Recreation; and Technology.

Our 7 Clubhouses and 7 specialty programs throughout Carmel Valley, Del Mar, Encinitas, & Solana Beach serve nearly 6,800 youth members and impact over 16,700 San Diego youth. Last year we awarded over $512,000 in financial assistance through our After School & Specialty Programs, (Aquatics/Rancho San Dieguito Swim Team, Athletics/BIG 8 Middle School Sports, Bulldogs Basketball, Carmel Valley Montessori School, Center for a Healthy Lifestyle, Summer Adventure Camps and Youth Arts Academy), so all local youth could take part in our programs.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our Clubhouses were closed for three months, as we shifted to virtual programming for our youth members in April. We recently reopened five of our seven Clubhouses (at limited capacity) for Summer Day Camps. We’ve also been able to re-open our Aquatics Center, Bulldogs Basketball programs, and Carmel Valley Montessori School, as well as continue online music lessons through our Youth Arts Academy. While local support has helped us reopen, we estimate we will only be able to serve one-third of the youth we normally do this summer, at three times the cost. Your support will ensure that working families have a safe and trusted place for their children to get the educational and emotional support they need during these challenging times.
